This week, we focused on Jesus’ identity and who He has made us to be! The New Testament actually has a lot to say about our identity!

As we approach Good Friday, challenge yourself this week to both sit with the truth of who Jesus was and who we are because of his sacrifice. The following is the benediction we went over on Palm Sunday as a resource in this regard!

We are the salt of the Earth (Matt 5:13)

We are the light of the world (Matt 5:14)

We are children of God, and we can call him Father (John 1:12; Romans 8:14,15; Galatians 3:26,4:6)

We are part of the true vine, and Christ’s life flows through us. We share in His life (John 15:1,5; Hebrews 3:14)

We are Christ’s friend (John 15: 15)

We are chosen by Christ to bear fruit (John 15:16)

We are slaves of righteousness (Romans 6:18)

We are slaves of God, which IN ITSELF is making us holy and gives us eternal life (Romans 6:22)

We are coheirs with Christ, inheriting His glory (Romans 8:17)

We are the Temple – the dwelling place of God. His Spirit, Presence, and life live in us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19)

We are joined forever to the Lord and are one spirit with Him (1 Corinthians 12:27)

Each of us is a new person. Our past is forgiven. We are new (2 Corinthians 5:17)

We are at peace with God. He has given us the work of helping others find peace with him

(2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

We are unified with all believers as God’s children and are heirs according to the promise made to Abraham (Galatians 3:26-8)

We are saints, holy people! (Ephesians1:1 Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:2)

We are citizens of heaven and are both already seated in heaven now and await the transformation of our lowly bodies into glorious ones (Ephesians 2:6; Philippians 3:20-1)

We are righteous. We are holy (Ephesians 4:24)

We are an expression of the life of Christ, because he is our life (Colossians 3:4)

We are chosen, holy, dearly loved by God, and share in Christ’s heavenly calling (Colossians 3:12; 1 Thessalonians 1:4; Hebrews 3:1)

We are children of light and not of darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5)

We are living stones being built into God’s spiritual temple. We are a chosen people, a royal and holy priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession so that we might declare the praises of Him who brought us out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:4-10)

We will be like Christ when He returns (1 John 3:1-2)

We are born in Christ, and the Evil One cannot touch us (1 John 5:18)

We are NOT the great “I AM,” but thankfully, we are what we are because His grace is at work in us (Exodus 3:14; John 8:24,28,58; 1 Corinthians 15:10)
